Sculptamold is a model railroading product that is very good for building terrain. When it's wet, it has the consistency of cottage cheese. If you want a realistic surface, you have to work its surface with a palette knife or similar tool to get rid of that curly texture. Since it's basically white, it can show through surface treatments such as painting and ground cover and shrubbery after a while, especially if your layout is modular and has to travel. A key way to avoid this is to mix your desired ground color into the Sculptamold as you add water to the dry material. Whatever ground color you desire, be sure to mix a darker color than you anticipate, as the Sculptamold will absorb a lot of it. if you don't do this, the ground color will look a lot paler than you might like when it dries. As for drying time, unless you live in an arid climate, expect it to take at least three days to be really dry.

Some great and realistic canyons and mountains can be made out of this stuff. It's very easy to work with. When in the dry raw state (before wet) it looks like cellulose with grit in it. They say it dries in two days, but in reality it's more like the better part of a week. Once dry, it becomes very hard and can be sculptured ad painted. The only surface that it's hard to adhear to is corrigated cardboard. Rather than to stick on it, it wants to slide along it. But on other surfaces, it works very well.
