Description

The easiest way to add automatic reversing to a section of your layout. 8 amp Auto-reversing control for a single reversing district. Use a double pole, double throw switch to manually allow for reversing. Use one Digitrax booster set for automatic reversing and another set for normal operation. Use a PM42 Quad Power Manager to handle 4 power sub-districts. You can set these up to be automatic reversing or power managers to prevent short circuits from shutting down your layout. Simple to wire.
  • Tunable trip current lets you use it on any layout from Z to G.

  • AR1 operates with or without LocoNet so, it can be used on non-Digitrax DCC systems, too.

  • Features
    - Cost effective automatic reversing for one reversing section or subdistrict
    - User selectable trip current lets you adjust the AR1 to work with any scale or equipment on your layout
    - Auto-Reversing manages polarity mismatches on the reversing track section without manually throwing electrical toggle switches or adding another booster
    - 8 amp peak, 6 amp continuous Auto-reversing control for a single reversing district.
    - Simple to wire 4 wire hookup, no locomotive wiring required
    - No external power required, runs off track power
    - AR1 operates with or without LocoNet, so it is compatible with all DCC systems.

Worked for me right out of the package. Used it for a turntable. Sure makes wiring much easier than the days of DC, and no switches to have to remember to throw before entering the block

This unit works and does everything advertised. Make sure you watch how far you turn out the set screws. The adjustment pot on them make getting the right amount or current detection pretty easy. I mounted mine in a building so I could keep it accessible.

    Impressed May 22, 2016

I have a reversing loop that has several switches (one main-line breaks into a double  track reversing loop).  I hooked the AR1 up; made some minor adjustments to the trip current and it worked like a charm!
I have an NCE powercab, and experienced no issues. I even tested two units with different addresses and was amazed that the AR1 only affected the direction of the unit in the reversing loop.

As a follow-up I modified my layout to include a second reversing loop.  This loop had several routes that branched off the loop at different points.  I kept getting shorts when I hit the track with the AR-1 loop power.  After a variety of different configurations I completely isolated the loop at every route.  That did the trick and is work perfectly now.  For the price, this is the way to go.

No comparison to using a toggle switch, the AR1 does it all for you.

Easy to hook up--no soldering.  This si the second one I have installed and they seem to work well.  This one was for a turntable.
