This decoder was a dream to install, made the NW-2 I installed it in perform better, and short of sound, I cannot imagine a better product.

Easy installation instead of original printed circuit board. I had no problem with thickness of decoder's board, as several people wrote; just applied a bit more pressure to fit it into place. Yes, I also removed kapton tape, because board sits very firmly in place. Loco started without any problems right after installation. And I must notice great stable work with moderately dirty rails, as Digitrax DN135D also does - there were only small blinking of light without any problems with loco run.

Digitrax NW-2 Decoder

Well, when I got this decoder for my Southern Pacific NW-2 I was fairly excited since the engine is out of production and I wanted it DCC. I took out the decoder and looked at the directions. I followed them just fine until it came to getting out the motor contacts. It says to rotate the motor gently, and I will tell you the motor did not like rotating. After nearly losing and breaking the contacts I "put" the decoder in. It did not fit. I had to widen the metal frame a bit and only got it partially in. Then I had to put the contacts back in which was by far the hardest task. I had to bend, twist, push, and pull them only for it not to work. after much taping and pressing to the decoder does my engine now work. I would strongly recommend a TCS decoder, I never installed it in the NW-2,but it has to be better than this Plug-Get Frustrated-Yell at poor locomotives-maybe play(if you have had good luck in your life) decoder. I respect Digitrax, but this was quite a let-down.

Well I had to remove just a hairs worth of material to get this decoder in the slots. I also removed the Kapton tape as the decoder was too tight. Once I got the decoder in the loco was reunning great.
