Good, but too "loconetty" January 23, 2015
Reviewer: jimil from IL, US
I originally wrote this draws 300mA constant. Turns out that was a bad unit. Other units seem to draw 100-200mA on initial start up but then settle down maybe 15-20mA.

This will not work out of the box with other DCC systems with external power. They provided for no ability to provide separate external power and still have proper DCC control(per their tech support) except via loconet connectors. If you try to hook up other power and to the track connectos hoping to get to your DCC signal, you may overload the unit and permanently damage it.

that means if you've got more than one or two, you can't plan on using a starter system from NCE, etc with too many of these. Even the 15 mA adds up quickly. You're basically into a 5 amp system or having to build with loconet right from the get go.

Great device January 20, 2015
Reviewer: Jim Musson from Hillsborough, NC United States
Ordered 2, one came in bad, had to sent it to Digitrax directly for repair.  They had it back to me in 5 days.  I was very happy with the repair time.

Wish there was some way to drive a signal or led board without additional hardware.

Ease of Use / Operation May 16, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Tres Pinos, CA United States
The unit was easy to install, easy to program and works as designed.  I was especially impressed by the ability to control two tortoise machines with one output. I have a place where getting to the switches is difficult and placing manual switches in the aisle would be detrimental during the fair. A good product.

Great!! April 18, 2014
Reviewer: Moose from Layton, UT United States
I have 2 of these and they work great!!  Only problem I have is that they switch when I first turn the power on so I have to switch them back.  Otherwise, I'm going to be ordering at least 2 more soon.

Great system January 10, 2014
Reviewer: Donald Butler from Madison, MS United States
I have two of the DS64's and am about to purchase two more.  I have the Tortoise Slow motion and the Peco solenoid type of switch motors and run them both off their respective DS64.

Operation is so easy that my 7 year old granddaughter can run the switches and the trains on the layout with the Digitrax Super Empire Builder.
