I have been unable to program locos to run in reverse as preferred direction; no AA or ABA lashups will work. I also mistakenly thought non sound DCC decoders would work; not so. Spend a little more and get a real DCC unit would be my recommendation. One can toggle a DC pack and switch systems.

Great addition to my DC layout, allows me to enjoy all the sounds available with my DCC equipped locomotives. Also allows for programming DCC locomotives if necessary. As usual my experience with MRC has been more then satisfactory.

This new product from MRC is the greatest thing since the credit card! Not only can you access almost every sound option on most of your DCC/SND locos (especially all QSI and Bachmans, and most Broadways), but you can still run all other regular DC locos on your exsisting track with out rewiring your entire layout for DCC. One drawback to this new system is, that when running more than one DCC/SND loco coupled together, both units MUST be facing in the same direction, or they will run in opposite directions. In other words, both i.e. Algoma Central GP7's must face short ends forward in order to run together. This shortfall does not superceed in any way the new MRC offering to the middle of the road DCC/SND modeler. Now there is a walk around control which plugs right into the Tech 6 box, along with facia outlets to yet extend the system even further...GO MRC!
