If you have rolling stock with McHenry couplers then these springs are a must. If one pops out of place, and one will, you will be glad you have a replacement. And at this low price it is good insurance.

McHenry Knuckle Coupler Springs

I was glad to see these tiny dark brown springs were readily available on MB Klein's site. Before they arrived, I had tried substituting Micro Trains coupler springs, which are a garish bright copper color and are a tad oversize, although they work. My Athearn FP45's will now couple properly and save me the embarrassment of seeing my lead loco on the El Capitan run away from its train. I'm not all that great a fan of McHenry couplers, as their shafts are a bit too long for close coupling freight cars, but they look good and work well on locomotives. I find the outside placement of the spring alongside the knuckle a bit of a curiosity that takes getting used to. This position makes the springs quite vulnerable to being dislodged when assembling a consist.
