First and most important point about these is that they seem to last almost forever. Hardly any unwanted break aparts using these when trains are running constantly uphill, downhill or on level ground. It doesn't matter. If planning to use an uncoupling tool on these, then an N scale model works best sometimes. But then sometimes it won't as the knuckles on these are smaller than the ones on conventional couplers. But just the same, uncoupling these with any uncoupling tool is a little harder that say uncoupling a Bachmann Easy Mate would be. Also, when hooking up to other cars with conventional size couplers, sometimes these will not connect to them. But if using all Mchenrys, they work very well.
