This red 50' gondola with fishbelly sides and drop ends displays large, white "Burlington" letters, white stenciling
and the "Burlington Route" herald. It exhibits white lettering and runs on black Barber® roller bearing trucks. Last
shopped in July 1959, this gondola was one of 200 built in 1955. From Lake Michigan to the Rockies, and from
Montana to the Gulf of Mexico, the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad and its subsidiaries operated 12,000
miles of track in 14 states.

This 50' gondola with
straight sides, drop ends and carrying a pulpwood load, is painted CN
brown has white lettering and runs on black National B-1 trucks. One of
70 gondolas built in 1937 as part of series 141750-142049, renumbered
into series 160000-16145 in the 1960s and rebuilt for lead-zinc ore
service in 1973. This car was last shopped by the CN in August of 1984.

This box car red 50’
composite gondola with drop ends, and fishbelly sides has large white
‘ROCK ISLAND” lettering and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. Rock
Island's 400 ‘War Emergency’ gondolas were built by Pressed Steel Car
Company in November of 1943. When new, #1197 received this box car red
paint and white stenciling. Equipped with 70-ton Bettendorf style
trucks, the cars were of 140,000-pound capacity and 1673 cubic feet.
The Rock Island later converted these cars to adapt in TOFC service,
tie loading and steel service.

circular “Rio Grande Main Line Thru the Rockies” logo, lettering in white and run on
black Barber® roller bearing trucks. The D&RGW served mainly as a transcontinental bridge line between Denver,
Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a major origin of coal and mineral traffi c with a motto of ‘Through
the Rockies, not around them.’ The Rio Grande was the epitome of mountain railroading, operating the highest
mainline rail line in the United States with an elevation over 10,240 ft (3121 m) at Tennessee Pass.

This 50’ steel side fixed end gondola is painted black with white lettering. It was built in July 1951 by Bethlehem
Steel and serviced in September 1976. It runs on roller bearing trucks. The large ‘READING’ is spelled out in speed
lettering and precedes the 1969 introduction of the green and yellow paint scheme. After this gondola was serviced
in September 1976, it retained its original ‘built scheme’ and has been relegated to company scrap service.

This 50’ steel side fixed end gondola is painted black with white lettering. It was built in April 1952 by General American
Transportation Corporation and serviced in April 1958. It runs on roller bearing trucks. The series was originally built for
general service, yet over half of the series was later converted to specialized uses: Coil steel, ferro-manganese ore, containers
and glass.

This 50’ steel side 15 panel gondola with fixed ends carries a quarry
load and runs on black Barber® roller bearing trucks. One of 50 PS-5s
built in 1958 by Pullman-Standard for the Rock Island, 3091 was
repainted at the Despatch Shops in East Rochester, NY in March of 1967.
Rated at 70-tons, or 1746 cubic foot capacity, the car is constructed
with a wood floor, indicated on the car side with the circle-W symbol.

This 50’ steel side 15-panel gondola with fixed ends
is painted Whitman green with white lettering and runs on black Barber®
roller bearing trucks. Built by Ortner Freight Car Company in August of
1979, #12447 was added to this series of 100 cars that originally
consisted of Thrall cars built in 1967. These cars were used for
general service duties and features included steel floors and fixed
ends.
