The Submarine Spitfire IX was quite arguably one of the best fighter of World War II and was best known for it's actions in the Battle of Britain. The Spitfire was first flown in March of 1936, it would be the only fighter produced in greater numbers than any other British aircraft. It was also the only British fighter to remain in production throughout the war with some 20,000 airframes being built in 47 different verisions. With the superbly designed airframe and the Rolls Royce engine it's no wonder this plane became a legend.

The decals included in the kit are the marking of Canadian Ace Henry Wallace "Wally" Mcleod credited with 21 kills before being shot down and killed.
