Osborn Model Kits HO 1083 Miss Supertest III Unlimited Hydroplane Kit

The Miss Supertest III unlimited hydroplane kit is based on the all wood 1950s era unlimited hydroplane with tilt trailer. This one is modeled after the three time Harmsworth trophy winner Miss Supertest.

In November 1957 James Thompson hydroplane Miss Supertest II danced accrossed the water in Picton Ontario At Asbury piloting the craft to 184.5 MPH, which was a world record. In 1959 with one time mechanic Bob Hayward in the cockpit Miss Supertest III ended a 30 year lock on the prestigious Harmsworth trophy, the unofficial world championship for the unlimited class. In those days Hayward and Miss Supertest ruled the water. They defended in 1960 and again in 1961 becoming the only three time winner in the history of the event. Later in the 1961 season Hayward flipped Miss Supertest II on the Detroit river ans was killed. Thompson retired Miss Supertest II leaving a legacy of being the only unlimited hydro to win all races it ever entered.
