The Comstock Lode promised much-needed wealth to help fund the reconstruction of the Union, but a railroad was needed to carry passengers and freight from remote silver mines to the boomtowns that sprang up around them. The Virginia & Truckee Railroad Company answered the call with trains like the Bachmann Silverado.
