Bachmann HO 45214 Motel with Pool Snap Kit

This is a nice motel to add on to the existing one I have. I kind of wanted to put an addition on to my motel so I can have more rooms for the tourists who visit my small railroad town. I can buy another one to have more rooms for the motel. I am always looking for ways to improve my model railroad layout with buildings and locomtives as well as cars and vehicles that would make it look like a real honest to goodness railroad town.

I'm going to give this historic Plasticville kit one more star. Up to now, it has only gotten three (3) stars. It deserved another I feel. While the original model tooling does date to the last century, please realize that back in the 1950's, BEFORE the Interstate highways were built-out, this is what typical small roadside motels looked like. ( I did find several Google pics of this kit being used by modelers on their train layouts.) I added the Bachmann leisure people #42339 to lounge about the simulated pool.Modelers: get off the Interstate highway, onto the older two and four-lane roads. Those older motels housed the tourists in the times that preceded the two-day, non-stop, marathon journeys, that often start up near Canada, and end at Floridas' DisneyWorld. ( I-95 was not a continuous route until after 1968 in my locality.)US Highway #1; #17; #301 were the three main eastern coastal routes coming into the Sunshine State. The Atlantic Coast Line and Seaboard Air Line, and to a lesser extent the Southern, often paralleled the highway in numerous places.So, the older motel would be right appropriate for the front edge of our tracks, or just behind ; with some woods between.
