CSX inherited scads of Twin Hoppers from all it's mergers and acquisitions, scrapping the ratty ones and repainting the worthy carcasses, re-servicing them for the myriad valuable jobs along it's vast trackage! These models are perfect for small business spurs, or MoW work, as well as workhorses for short lines in almost all the States from North to South in the Eastern USA! I've equipped them with sand and gravel loads.
CSX Transportation, one of our four primary national rail lines, serves 23 states in the Eastern USA and the Canadian Provinces of Ontario and Quebec with over 70 ocean, river, and lake port terminals along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, the Mississippi , the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway. Its slogan is "How Tomorrow Moves," and its name comes from the merger of the "C" Chessie and "S" Seaboard Rail Systems, with the "X" connoting "Consolidated." Both Chessie and Seaboard Systems had been comprised of mergers and acquisitions of all the major eastern USA rail lines, too numerous to mention! Not until 1987 did CSX have its own identity and purchasing and painting of equipment could begin. In 1998, permission was granted to split-up the assets of CONRAIL (a government-owned corporation formed from the ailing NYC and PRR railroads) between CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads. Here offered, is a pair of always useful 2-bay hoppers, refurbished and repainted for CSX from the myriads inherited throughout it's long history.
