Price was right so I got one to test. Doesnt go smoothly over Peco Code 55 track. Went back to the reliable manual method.

Spread ballast the easy way

This works great if you take your time and do a little at a time. I actually partially blocked middle hole with a bit a tape as it was dropping too much down center of track. Required a little bit of patience to meet my preference with that. Overall, very useful tool to do ballasting.
