Shipping Policy


1.) How often are orders printed?

Orders are printed every morning on or about 8:30 AM eastern time as well as several times during the day depending on order volume, (Monday-Saturday). Orders are processed in the order they are received. Most orders usually ship within 2 to 3 business days based on volume.


2.) How do you calculate the cost of shipping and Handling?

UPS and USPS shipping rates take into account many factors such a point of origin, destination, weight, date of shipment, size and urgency. You can determine what shipping would cost by going through the on-line purchasing process. This can be done without finalizing the sale. If you decide that you no longer want the order, you can just empty your shopping cart. Shipping is automatically calculated for all shipments. We use published rates from UPS and USPS to determine the exact shipping cost.

3.) Extra Shipping Charges/ Shipping Method Changes


Extra shipping charges may apply in some circumstances. If so, we will contact you for approval before billing any additional amounts.

However, there are also times when the method of shipping may be changed at the discretion of M. B. Klein / www.modeltrainstuff.com, due to, but not limited to, actual cost of shipping, size of item(s) / order(s), ship to location, etc.

4.) Import Duty, GST / VAT Charges

Our prices do NOT include Import Duty and / or GST / VAT for shipments outside the of the USA. You may need to pay these charges at the time of delivery to your "Ship To" address. You can contact your local Customs Office to determine what these rates may be. Please note that we CANNOT report a lower value in accordance with the law. Thank you.



5.) What are your UPS shipping policies?



United Parcel Service (UPS) Shipping Policy Details

- UPS Does not pick up or deliver on Saturday or Sunday. Delivery time frame is based on business days - Monday through Friday.



- UPS shipping method choices for the contiguous US are: UPS Ground, 3 Day Select, 2 Day Air and Next Day Air.


- UPS International shipping choices are: UPS Worldwide Saver (1-3 Day Delivery) and UPS Worldwide Expedited (2-5 Day Delivery).


- Shipping train sets and other oddly shaped or oversize packages may incur an additional handling charge.


- M.B. Klein reserves the right to decline shipping packages to any country or region for any reason at our sole discretion.


- If you require a signature at the time of delivery, please include a note in the "Order Notes" section when placing your order stating, "Signature Required". There are times, which are at the UPS Driver's discretion, when you may be required to sign for your package.


- All shipments are insured for actual cost.


- Maryland residents add 6% sales tax.


- Orders are shipped out on a daily basis, Monday-Friday.


- Expedited orders placed after 1pm Eastern will ship the next day.


- Log into your account to track your package on your account page once your order has shipped. If you did not create an account at the time of your order, you will not be able to track your package until the tracking information is sent to you via e-mail.

6.) What are your USPS shipping policies?



United States Postal Service (USPS) Shipping Costs And Policies

- Do not ask us to misrepresent package contents or values on customs declaration forms. We are required by law to report accurate valuation of products on the shipping paperwork. We will not violate the law.

- Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and PO Boxes in the United States are shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

7.) When can I pick up my order at your store after selecting In-Store Pickup?

Please give us at least 24 hours after you place your order before you pick it up at our retail store. In addition to comply with MD law we are required to collect 6% MD sales tax either at the time of purchase or when picked up.


8.) Can you combine, add items to or hold my order(s)?
As of May 1st, 2010, we are no longer able to combine or hold orders. Subsequently, we are no longer able to make additions, deletions or modifications to orders. Prior to finalizing your order, review your shopping cart to assure you have ordered the correct scale, quantity, etc.



9.) Do your orders require a signature for delivery?
We require a signature for delivery for all orders over $750.


10.) Can you ship aerosols or other flammable product overseas?
We are not permitted to ship any aerosols or flammable products overseas due to USPS and UPS shipping regulations. If you order these products to be shipped overseas, our Customer Service Department will contact you to credit you for the items and allow you to make any changes if needed.


11.) What are the terms and conditions for Christmas and/or Holiday Shipping?
Orders must be placed by 12:00 pm (noon) EST on the date specified in our Holiday Shipping Schedule to qualify for "guaranteed" holiday delivery. If the order is not delivered in time for the holiday, we will refund the amount that you paid for shipping. However, we will not be responsible for any incidental or consequential damages, nor for circumstances beyond our control. UPS or USPS tracking will constitute proof of delivery.

During peak times, we may exercise the options specified in Item #3 above -- we may change the carrier and/or method of shipping at our discretion.

We do our very best to insure Happy Holiday deliveries for all. Thank you for your cooperation, understanding and, most of all, ordering in ADVANCE of the cut-off dates!
