These new masks are precision cut to fit popular high quality HO scale wheel sets. It not only keeps paint off of the wheel treads leaving just the front and back wheel faces and axle exposed for color, but keeps the modeler's hands clean as well. The mask will hold four axles and, once painted, each of its "fingers" can be individually pulled apart to release one wheel set at a time. As paint builds up after time and since it's made of acrylic, it can be soaked briefly in a number of paint solvents and wiped clean. Unlike cardboard masks, these will last for years!

The mask is easy to assemble from 5 clear acrylic parts; a plastic solvent glue, such as Ambroid's Pro Weld, is all that is required.

    AMB Wheel Paint Mask

Posted by Roger Huber on Jun 28th 2018

I have been a custom painter since 1973. I have tried to mask wheels for painting using many different techniques & methods over the years. None were as easy and efficient as this nifty little tool.

Assembly was fast and easily accomplished by placing tab A into slot B, etc! I used Testors liquid cement with no problems.

Paint does accumulate on it after painting many wheels but a quick dunk in the appropriate thinner removes the buildup and you're ready to go again.

This is a MUST HAVE ITEM if you do a little or a lot of painting! Thank you, AMB!

    AMB wheel mask

Product description does say for Intermountain and Reboxx - apparently the Proto wheelsets I usually use have a slightly different wheel profile as the fit isn't as complete / tight as I would like. However it works acceptably and is certainly easier to use than my other wheel mask.

Model train Stuff was great as usual, but I can NOT recommend this product. The first time I used it 2 of the finger broke. Made my own and it works Great!
