My experience has shown that these work best with a Capacitor Discharge unit (I use the "Snapper"), because it delivers the current necessary when throwing multiple twin-coil devices. I would also recommend the addition of a small 24 vac 300ma wall wort irrigation power supply, because even 18 vac will not be enough when using the Snap Relay with more than one turnout. As well, a CD unit will prevent coil burnout if a turnout control switch sticks, plus it will also prevent control switch contact degradation due to arcing from reverse current induced when a coil is de-energized.

I have just completed initial checkout of these units in my layout and all is good. Products work as advertised and I really appreciate the promptness of shipment and, above all, the good price.

    Snap Relay

    Product works as specified.

Warning: Please alert customers not to use these relays with AC Accessory power packs of less than 16VAC. They will operate but produce a very unnerving chatter.

    Snap relays

Posted by Bill Whitehead on Jun 28th 2018

These relays are the handiest things to have on your layout for simple signal control in conjunction with switches, starting an event or just powering the frogs. They are relatively inexpensive and not complicated to use and wire in to the layout. I have seen them used even in the massive sized layouts to do the mundane, repetitive tasks that PCBs would be too expensive to do. Try one or two of thme to do some of the neat things on your layout and you will see what I mean!

    Atlas snap relay

The snap relay's reliable operaton can provide various combinations for switching.

Provides a solution to the problem, in synchronizing turnouts when operating numerous trains, over alternative routes.
