    Pretty decent lighting

The obvious advantage of using this kit in Kato passenger cars is that they’re designed for it. When installing the metal leaves, bend the short sides back about 15° to get a better connection with the LED assembly. There are competing LED systems that include capacitors that reduce flicker and use a row of LEDS to more uniformly light the car, but you have to devise your own leaves. Maybe someday Kato will add capacitors to theirs and improve the light dispersion through the car. If you just want the cars lit and little fuss to install, these will suffice.

Only lights half of the car

The lighting is rather ez to install, once you figure out where everything goes, but at best, they only seem to light 1/2 of the car. They are kinda touchy as to where the light is directed inside the car too. All in all the do an adequate job.

    KIT PARA CARROS DE PASAJEROS

Posted by Mauricio Dunner Torres on Jun 29th 2018

Instale el kit en mis carros Kato "El Capitán", labor que es relativamente fácil, y el resultado es muy bueno dando una potente luz blanca en casi todas las ventanas de los carros.

    Kato Lighting Kit N 11212

Posted by billyyank on Jun 29th 2018

This lighting kit is a great item that in my opinion is a must for any night scenes. It doesn't require any specialized skills like soldering, wiring, and etc. and yields great results. If you can build a Snap-Kit model you can install these lights. It is amazing how lights so small can give off so much illumination. For anyone using one of these kits for the first time the instructions are woefully insufficient. I was able to go online and find an excellent step by step article including clear illustrations on how to install these kits. I am a novice when it comes to model rail roading, but I can tell you that based on my experience in terms of quality, detail, and reliability any Kato product is a safe purchase and MTS is the only company to buy from.

Kit is easy to install but I'm running DC and you still get some flicker. Still looks good though. Great service from Model Train Stuff.

    Works Well on DC

Posted by Al on Jun 29th 2018

It took a little modification to work correctly on Amtrak Superliners (no "post" to rest the diffusers on and cannot "snap" to roof like the instruction sheet says). All I used was a little piece of clear tape and "attached" to the light. Works perfectly, although the lights is a little dimmer at the opposite end, most likely due to the length of these cars and the design of the diffuser..

I may go back and put the filters on, as these lights are BRIGHT but no flicker at all.
