Kato N 176-6050S Siemens ALC-42 Charger Soundtraxx, Amtrak #301 (DCC and Sound)

This Kato Siemens ALC-42 Charger is based on 2022 additions to Amtrak'sroster of long distance diesel locomotives, intended to replace the GE P42in general passenger service across all of Amtrak's diesel-powered trains.The first ALC-42 was delivered to Amtrak on June 17, 2021 and enteredrevenue service on February 8, 2022 on the Empire Builder. This modeldiffers from other regional SC44 variations of the |Charger} model with anextended nose section, larger fuel tank and sandfill tank, and otherinternal modifications to make it better fit Amtrak's needs for crosscountry travel. All of these details have been carefully and lovinglyreplicated on the brand new Kato model, which features totally new moldingand design from the ground up.
The smooth curves of the engine are precisely modeled to match theprototype, with a visible engine compartment beneath the engine'sdistinctive large grill on the side. In order to duplicate the illuminatedengine compartment from the prototype model, an interior lighting kit#381-11211 is capable of being installed into the rear of the engine,allowing modelers to enjoy this extra lighting feature! The model featuresa detailed, injection-molded body, five-pole motor with dual flywheels,all-wheel electrical pickup, heavy die cast metal chassis, fine decoration,directional LED headlights and Kato magnetic knuckle couplers. Hybrid steeland plastic wheels give all-wheel electrical pickup with unprecedentedprototype details on the visible wheel exterior. The Siemens ALC-42 Chargerwill be the mainstay power on Amtrak trains from coast to coast, so this NScale model will look right at home on your 2022-and-later layout.
