Redeem rewards by logging into your account. Once you choose a coupon, click ‘Apply code’ to add it to checkout. Each coupon has a minimum order amount — for example, $10 coupons are valid on orders $59+, $15 on $84+, $20 on $109+, $25 on $134+, and $50 on $279+.

What is Model Railroading Society?

Model Railroad Rewards Society is our loyalty program designed to reward you for building your dream layout with us! Through the program, you will be eligible to earn points whenever you engage with ModelTrainStuff, such as making a purchase, referrals, reviews, and sharing your love for us on social media.

How do I earn Model Railroad Rewards?

You can earn points with the following actions:

  • Sign Up: New customers who sign up for the program will automatically earn 100 points!
  • Purchases: All qualifying purchases earn points for every dollar spent, depending on your VIP tier (Passenger, Engineer, Yardmaster).
  • Birthday Points: Celebrate your birthday with additional points depending on your VIP tier (Passenger, Engineer, Yardmaster).
  • Reviews: Leave a product review on modeltrainstuff.com for 100 points.
  • Social Sharing: Follow us on Instagram, or like/share us on Facebook for more points. Depends on your VIP tier (Passenger, Engineer, Yardmaster). *One social share awarded per month. One Page Like per customer.

How do I get points for reviews?

Although anyone can leave a review for a product on our site, only buyers of the reviewed product will receive points. In order for a review to be considered to receive points, customers will receive an email from our team, alongside our review partner Judge.me, asking for you to submit a verified review after a purchase is made. Emails are typically sent to customers 14 days after order fulfillment. Once an email is received, customers can respond directly to the email to leave a review. All reviews must have a title in addition to the body of the review for points to be assigned. So that our system can accurately track reviews to award points, the email address in a customer review has to have been the same one used to order the product. If a customer instead submits a review directly on our online store (a “web review,” rather than through a review request email), then it isn’t automatically marked as a review approved to receive points, even if it comes from a verified buyer. For web reviews, after the review is submitted, a verification email is sent to these reviewers in specific cases, such as when the reviewer has placed an order, the reviewer has logged into their user profile, or the reviewer has reviews verified as a buyer. The customer needs to respond to this email to confirm their web review so that points can be awarded. After a review has been submitted, 100 points will be added to a customer’s account, typically within an hour or less of the review posting.

What do VIP tiers (Passenger, Engineer, and Yardmaster) mean?

The more you share your journey with us, the greater the rewards! You will be a Passenger if you spend less than $275, an Engineer once you spend between $275 - $1,499, and a Yardmaster once you spend more than $1,500 within the calendar year. Please refer to the table on top for a summary of additional benefits available to our most active members.

What if I already have an account?

Perfect! You have automatically been enrolled in the Model Railroad Rewards Society.

Who is eligible for Model Railroad Rewards Society?

Everyone! Just sign up for an account and start earning points! Please note that one account is allowed per customer.

Do my Model Railroad Rewards Society ever expire?

Currently, points stay in your account until you redeem for rewards. This is subject to change.

Does my tier ever expire?

Your current tier is based on your activity from the current calendar year. Your tier will reset January 1st of each year. Whatever tier you are in at new year reset will be your tier for the following year unless you spend enough to graduate to the next highest tier in which case your tier level will be upgraded immediately. If you go down a tier at the new year reset, you will still retain any previously earned points.

How do I track how many points I have?

Click Rewards on the bottom right hand corner of your screen. You'll see your point count displayed along with reward progress, your VIP tier information, your unique referral code and more. You can also view your points dashboard by clicking into your account profile.

I just signed up / left a review / placed an order / engaged on social media with you. Where are my points?

Don't panic! Sometimes it takes our system a few minutes to process and apply points to your account. If you don't see the point in your account after 24 hours, please contact our help desk with your order info and we'll take care of it for you!

What happens if I return or cancel my order?

Any points originally awarded will be deducted from your account balance.

I redeemed my reward, but I'm not ready to purchase yet. Can I wait?

In the event you redeem your reward and decide you don't want to use it immediately, the coupon will remain usable for 6 months before it expires.

What if I accidentally redeemed my reward?

Points are not automatically returned to your account if a reward is redeemed and not used. You have up to 6 months to use your redeemed reward before it expires.

I have a birthday coming up - can I earn birthday points if I sign up now?

Depending on when you sign up, you may not be eligible for birthday points this year. If your birthday is within 30 days of signing up, you will not be rewarded until the following year.

When will I see my birthday points in my account?

The points will be rewarded once a year on your birthday. Points are NOT issued when the customer enters their birthday.

What if I want to leave the Model Railroad Society?

We're sad to see you go! If you would like to leave the Model Railroad Rewards Society, please visit our help desk to deactivate your account. *Note that deactivating your account will cause you to lose any accrued points and VIP tier status. You may re-enroll in the program at any time, however, your points balance and VIP tier will reset to zero/Passenger.
